Caregiver Screening: An Unwavering Commitment to Excellence

Our screening process is thorough and discerning, designed to select caregivers who are not just qualified, but also embody the compassion and dedication that are the hallmarks of Always Family.

1. Experience and Expertise: We require a minimum of three years of caregiving experience. This criterion ensures that our caregivers come with a wealth of practical knowledge and a deep understanding of the needs and challenges faced by seniors.

2. Comprehensive Background Checks: Safety and trust are non-negotiable. We conduct full background checks, including an Employee Misconduct Registry review, checks against the Texas OIG site, and the TX sex offender registry. This rigorous vetting helps ensure the safety and well-being of your loved one.

3. Reference Verification: We require at least two reference checks, with at least one being professional. We strive to contact these references prior to a caregiver’s first shift, ensuring that our staff is reliable and highly regarded by previous employers or associates.

4. Valid Credentials: Every caregiver must possess a valid driver’s license and car insurance in their name, underlining our commitment to responsibility and accountability. We also require all caregivers be CPR-certified.

5. The Servant’s Heart and Grandma Guarantee: Our unique vetting focuses on a caregiver’s ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate a genuine servant’s heart in their responses. We adhere to the ‘Grandma Guarantee,’ ensuring that our caregivers are motivated by compassion rather than compensation.

 

Caregiver Training Program: Setting the Bar High

Once part of Always Family, our caregivers undergo a rigorous training program designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge they need to provide exceptional care.

1. Mandatory Training: Our caregivers complete an 8-hour course provided by Higher Standards training. This curriculum covers crucial topics including HIPAA, adult abuse and neglect, universal precautions, infection control, ADL feeding, bathing, toileting skills, and more.

2. Specialized and Ongoing Education: Beyond the mandatory training, caregivers have access to an extensive library of training videos. These cover specific skills and scenarios, ensuring that our team is prepared for any situation.

3. Real-Time Training: If additional training is needed, our registered nurses provide in-person, on-shift guidance, ensuring caregivers are adept in handling the unique needs of each client.

 

Continuous Supervision and Improvement

Our commitment to excellence extends beyond initial training. Our registered nurses meticulously prepare customized care plans tailored to each client, incorporating medical conditions and potential red flags. Regular reviews of care notes, family check-ins, and unexpected RN visits ensure that our caregivers consistently deliver care that meets our high standards.

Congratulation to Rhonda Henderson, the Always Family DFW West Caregiver of the Year!

Rhonda has excelled in client care and has received nothing but the highest praise from every client she has worked with since started with us in 2022. Her strong work ethic, compassionate spirit, and ability to collaborate effectively with the RN Care Coordinators make her the model that we look for in every prospective caregiver that applies with Always Family. She consistently goes above and beyond expectations and is the first one we call whenever we have clients who need significant assistance. Rhonda has been instrumental in the growth of our new agency by working 197 shifts and 890 hours without an unexcused absence. She has also won our monthly caregiver perfect attendance award every month since its inception in 2023.

Despite all of this, the most shining example of what sets Rhonda apart came in September of 2023. Rhonda and one of her long-time clients share a friendly baseball rivalry. Rhonda is an avid Houston Astros fan while her client, Bob, is a diehard supporter of the Texas Rangers. Rhonda decided to surprise Bob on her day off with two tickets and a trip to the Texas Rangers new ballpark so that they could watch the teams compete in a heated race for the pennant. The two had an amazing time and now share an experience that will last them both a lifetime.
